Réseau d’élus locaux
L’Association Internationale des Maires Francophones est le réseau des élus locaux de 48 pays où le français est la langue officielle, la langue de communication ou une langue largement utilisée, et qui se retrouvent autour de ces valeurs communes que sont la place des femmes dans les processus de décision, la démocratie participative ou encore la planification du développement local.
A travers ses rencontres et séminaires, elle offre aux élus et aux cadres de l’administration territoriale un espace d’échange, de réflexion et de dialogue autour des pratiques de gestion territoriale. Elle favorise ainsi les transferts de savoir-faire, le renforcement de l’expertise francophone et le développement d’une solidarité concrète entre ses membres. En participant aux grandes conférences internationales et en établissant des relations de travail durables avec les agences de développement et les bailleurs multilatéraux, l’AIMF offre également à ses membres la possibilité de voir leurs valeurs et leur savoir-faire portés sur la scène internationale. Enfin, elle s’attache à favoriser les échanges avec les collectivités locales d’autres aires culturelles et leurs réseaux, en les associant à ses débats et en signant avec eux des accords de partenariat.
